Paint and why it matters to sellers.

Why would a realtor be blogging about paint? I admit, I hate painting. It's usually just a step above being asked to help someone move. However, there is no bigger bang for your buck than a fresh coat of neutral toned paint for the interior of your home. A simple afternoon or weekend can result in thousands of extra dollars in your pocket or a quicker sale. Selling is a 2-way street, and if sellers are committed to the sale of their home, realtors can provide a higher return on a possible sale. Very simply, painting is a must when selling a home.

Why make things difficult? If you've chosen a bold or primary color for your wall, you might want to tone it down or bring back some neutral shades. After-all, you want a potential buyer to picture themselves in your home --- It's a little tough when your family room is painted in Green Bay Packer colors or something even more horrific. Potential buyers shouldn't even notice paint when they walk into a home, it simply should compliment the residence. Another added bonus is a fresh coat of paint may hide years of neglect in home care and neutralize odors.

So if you're thinking of selling, run to Benjamin Moore and grab some Aura paint and get to work. It's foolproof and could be the difference of you selling your home in days or it staying on the market.

*Remember, neutral tones work best as they help amplify the sensation of space and size. Don't believe me? Check out the tones used in a showhome by a well know developer or a Lottery prize home.
